lyrics

I hope you can understand me when I speak to you
I hope that it's not tough to get my point across to you
Cause I don't know you (I hope to know you)
And I want to know you (Don't walk away)

Damn these cultural barriers
And damn me for trying to break them down
I saw something in your eyes today
but neither of us knew what I was trying to say

Did you leave your boyfriend all alone back home
Did you leave everything behind (everything behind)
Cause I've been waiting here the entire time
I hope you wouldn't mind

If I took you to my favorite coffeeshop
and showed you all around my hometown
Will I ever see where you grew up?
No, I just gotta get my feet down on the ground

Damn these cultural barriers
And damn me for trying to break them down
I saw something in your eyes today
but neither of us knew what I was trying to say
